Compared to classic orthodontics (fixed appliance - braces), maintaining hygiene is significantly easier because the aligners are removable. Tooth movements are gentler, as the aligners are changed every one or two weeks. The time component is also important: therapy lasts on average a third less time than with a fixed appliance, and visits to the clinic are less frequent.

In certain cases, classic tooth straightening with brackets (braces) glued to the teeth and wire arches is still applicable. In this case, we use the American Damon system, where the brackets are self-ligating and thus allow for gentler tooth movements. There are metal and clear brackets available.

Regardless of whether you wear a fixed appliance or Invisalign aligners, consistent oral hygiene is key to the success of the treatment. Clean your teeth after every meal, use interdental tools, and with Invisalign, always thoroughly clean the aligners before putting them back in - an ultrasonic aligner cleaner is the most effective. Only healthy teeth and gums allow for a beautiful and lasting orthodontic result.
